Derbyshire development Deer Park makes donation to Ripley Netball Club for 25th anniversary celebrations

GINNIS New Homes, the housing developers behind the stunning Deer Park development in Ripley, are delighted to have made a donation to a local netball club celebrating their 25th year.

Cheryl Naylor, head coach of Ripley Netball Club, was presented with a cheque for £150 by Pat McGinnis of Ginnis New Homes – during their recent First Time Buyer’s event.

Ripley Netball Club, which has more than 100 members from age five upwards, will mark their silver anniversary with a two-day festival at Derbyshire outdoor activity centre, Lea Green.

They currently have eight squads and encourage their members to attend Derbyshire Satellite and Academy trials. Five members of Ripley Netball Club have played for Netball Super League side Loughborough Lightning’s NPL squad with two being selected for England trials.

Mrs Naylor said: “We’re a friendly club with a warm-welcoming, family feel and are extremely grateful to Ginnis New Homes for this donation, which will go towards celebrating our 25th year.

“We’ve gone from humble beginnings – on an outdoor court at Ripley Leisure Centre – to now boasting more than 100 members and an enthusiastic junior section.

“We have been recognised over the years with awards – such as the Derbyshire Sport Coach of the Year award, Amber Valley Club of the Year and England Netball’s Golden Globe award which was in recognition of three of our members completing 400 voluntary hours to the sport.

“We’re self-funded; our club regularly organises race nights and bag packing sessions at local supermarkets to bring in much-needed revenue, so this donation from Ginnis New Homes is fantastic.”

Darren Farnan, marketing manager at Ginnis New Homes, said: “Our Deer Park development has a real community feel about it and we are thrilled to support the local netball club.

“We are an independent family-run developer, our homes are different to many being built elsewhere in the area.

“Ginnis New Homes has previously made a donation to Ripley St John’s CoE school, which was used to buy books for their library, and we look forward to supporting more local projects.”

The Deer Park development, which boasts a turnkey finish and super-fast broadband, provides views across the Amber Valley. It is just minutes away from Sainsbury’s supermarket in Bridle Lane and a short drive into the centre of Ripley and a short walk to St John’s CoE Primary School.

Each Deer Park home features high ceilings, period-style windows, open-plan kitchens, downstairs WCs and built-in storage space. It’s a five-minute drive into the town centre and has good access to the M1 motorway.

The development has recently taken delivery of several colourful planters from Ripley-based Cottage Nurseries, which were on display during their most recent event.
