Two sisters who work for the same Nottinghamshire funeral firm have taken the next step in their careers together after they passed their professional exams at the same time.
Danni Allen and Amanda Outram, who both work for Gillotts Funeral Directors, have received their Diplomas in Funeral Arranging and Administration after sitting their exams earlier in the year.
Danni was the company’s youngest-ever employee when she started working as a funeral arranger at Gillotts’s branch in Selston two-and-a-half years ago.
Amanda, meanwhile, works as a funeral arranger and office administrator at its branch in Abbott Street, Heanor.
Joanne Hutsby, a partner in Gillotts, which also has branches in Eastwood, Kimberley and Stapleford, said: “We’re very proud of Danni and Amanda for having both gained their diplomas, having been such invaluable members of our staff for the past few years.
“Like all good businesses, we rely on our staff to maintain the high professional standards that we set for ourselves and Danni and Amanda’s diplomas are proof that they are capable of supplying the levels of service that our customers expect.”
Danni said: “Gaining my diploma has given me a real confidence boost because although it doesn’t change what role I do, it gives our customers the reassurance that I am qualified in arranging funerals on their behalf.
“Amanda and I helped each other during our studies and it was really helpful having her taking the exam at the same time because she was able to encourage me.”
Amanda, who joined Gillotts from the NHS in 2015, added: “It was good to have someone like Danni to bounce ideas off during the course and I am very happy to have gained my diploma, because it’s a sign to our families that we are knowledgeable and fully qualified to do our jobs.”
